2021 Vacation – New England – Day One

Day 1 Vacation!
I have not had one moment to myself the last couple of weeks. Planning our route and booking hotels, trying to get my work all in order and juggling in normal life. Planning a vacation is hard work! We have spent countless hours on websites, reading through guidebooks, pinning ideas on Pinterest and getting recommendations from friends. I am happy to say we have a plan and hotels booked for all but the last night! We have advance tickets for the Erie Canal Lockport tour and Bar Harbor Nature Watch.

We left this morning, stopped at Clyde Peeling’s Reptiland, a place we have passed by for 25 years. It was cute. We watched them feed alligators and got to pet snakes 😳 Yes, I let the Gs convince me to touch one. Now I never have to do it again.

Our plan is Sun-Tues in Niagara Falls. I can’t believe G1 agreed to go! Tues we make our way across NY, Erie Canal Locks and Seneca Zoo and on to Ft Ticonderoga. Wed driving to Bar Harbor, ME and stay til Sun. Then head south to Salem, MA and the USS Constitution in North Boston. Last day in Mystic, CT and then home. I’m not sure what we will find along the way as far as things open but we’re doing whatever we can find.

Time to breathe! We are sitting at the mountain house now relaxing. It’s a gorgeous night, around 70 degrees and still sun shining at 7pm. The birds are happily chirping. I’ve been sitting on the deck writing and one of the hummingbirds has come very close to sitting with me. He flits between the trees and hovering just 6 feet away from me.
